Light intensity vs. light mounting height
Light is vital for all plants, but it needs to reach the plant in the right way. The intensity of the light decreases the further it travels from the lamp, but it also lights up a larger surface area. You can make sure that all your plants receive light at the same intensity by using more than one lamp in combination with reflectors.
Of course, you should never place the lamps too close to the plants because the plants will overheat and be unable to cool themselves off sufficiently through evaporation. This also applies when external temperatures are higher. Then the plants will have to cool themselves off more, so you should raise the lamps further away from them.
So you need to adjust the height of the lamps according to the height of the plants themselves and according to the external temperature.
