For the second time in England the Tour de France kicked off to a brilliant start in North Yorkshire on Saturday the 5th of July 2014. As we Dutch have a passion for our bikes and love to cycle, CANNA was there to report on what was going on.

CANNA's representative was – together with thirteen enthusiastic people wearing CANNA clothes – situated in Otley, West Yorkshire. A beautiful idyllic picturesque cycling town, 25 miles outside of Harrogate.

“The crowds came out to support this historical day in huge numbers. At 9am the streets were absolutely jam-packed with people and their families, waiting with enthusiasm and anticipation to cheer on the cyclists going by. There were lots of street parties and special events which took place over the whole weekend,” the representative tells. “You could sense the positive aura of excitement in the atmosphere, that history was about to be made. The people were so proud of this day.”

CANNA's representative described the people of Otley West Yorkshire as 'fantastic'. “After a three and a half hour build up of waiting for the cyclist to come by they finally arrived. The crowds were ecstatic and went berserk with excitement and cheered into a frenzy. It was a magnificent moment to see and it was an honour to be part of this momentous occasion.”
